1. What's your practice focus and what kind of clients knock on your door ?

I'm a family doctor with additional training in functional and integrative medicine. My practice is a primary care office - so my patients tend to be holistic-minded. I blend the best of conventional and functional medicine to care for patients.

2. Tell us about yourself.

I love working with patients to build up their health in a holistic way. As a child, I experienced the power of holistic care and healing for myself, so it's a joy to be able to provide this type of care for people in my community.

3. Tell us the story of a patient who you are most proud of helping.

I had a patient who had pretty intense winter blues and depression. After working together, this is the first winter she has not had the winter blues! I love hearing stories like this from my patients - the health of our mind is so interconnected with the health of our body, so it's wonderful to be able to treat patients holistically from both sides.

4. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a practitioner in private practice?

We don't learn how to run a business (practice) in medical training, so there's certainly been a learning curve there. Fortunately, I have plenty of amazing mentors to learn from and have been inspired by. It's also been powerful to see how learning a new skill can really empower me to take better care of my patients.

5. What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a private practice today?\

These would be my pieces of advice:

  1. Find mentorship.
  2. Go to conferences related to the business side of medicine for private practice (e.g. Direct Primary Care Summit).
  3. Read business books or listen to podcasts.

6. Where can people find you?
