1. What's your practice focus and what kind of clients knock on your door ?

We are a holistic internal medicine and lifestyle medicine clinic which focuses on addressing the root cause of diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease and auto-immune diseases. Through the power of Lifestyle Medicine and personalized coaching, we empower our patients to take control of their own health. By offering mindfulness and yoga sessions, movement classes, cooking demos, and group support sessions, we provide an ecosystem of wellness where our patients can naturally thrive.

2. Tell us about yourself.

I have experienced the benefits of transitioning to a healthier diet and lifestyle personally and this motivates me to share these simple, powerful and evidenced tools with family, friends and now my patients. And, now I have witnessed my patients reverse hypertension, place their diabetes in remission, gotten off immunosuppressive medications and maintaining their weight loss and this keeps me energized and excited to help even more individuals.

3. Tell us the story of a patient who you are most proud of helping.

One of the first patients I worked with was a young man named "J" who was diagnosed with Type II diabetes in his early twenties. He had witnessed the damage this disease in his own family and was determined not to follow in their foot steps. Very quickly he adopted a whole foods plant-based diet, started exercising and improved his sleep habits. With in 6 weeks, he was off of Insulin and completely medication free soon after and was able to maintain a normal A1c off of all medications.

4. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a practitioner in private practice?

The financial challenges especially when you are trying to practice primary care and infuse Lifestyle Medicine into the mix are real. Insurance companies don't adequately compensate physicians for Lifestyle interventions currently. But we are hopeful that this will change in the near future.

5. What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a private practice today?\

These would be my pieces of advice:

  1. Choose a focus area that you enjoy so you remain passionate and committed.
  2. Partner up with other likeminded individuals so you can reduce the cost of running a business.
  3. Become involved with American College of Lifestyle Medicine

6. Where can people find you?
